I am so digging the way Indian women dress. I can’t wait to shop; the whole look is so cool: long colorful tunics with narrow pants and super beautiful scarves or gorgeous saris. Query, what happened to the group of folks who believed in picturing sex on the outside of their most religious buildings (by the way, I visited the Jain temple too where, until this day, they have naked priest- you heard me the priest don’t wear any clothes? Why all the cover-up now? My guide says it is the Muslim influence. Okay, but then how come no uncovered shoulders, arms, legs, etc., but you can still have your bellies showing? And I am not talking about small bellies. Shoot why are we westerners trying to flatten our bellies? This Indian belly thing look just fine. Oh and by the way, some westerners in my hotel obviously did not get to the page in the guide book that says to cover up; I’m seeing a lot of bare arms, cleavages, and cracks. Yikes! Musings of a newbie at the beginning of a fabulous trip. Right now, I am wearing some hideous loose fitting J.Jill outfit which anyone is welcome to have when I return!

I'm so envious. I LOVE Indian fabrics and think their design/embroidery crafts are the most gorgeous in the world.
ReplyDeleteAs for the whole belly thing, I am practicing being Indian at the moment and loving that if I were to move there I would truly be appreciated.
Much love
Susanne
Okay. Keep the musings coming. Can't wait to see pictures. And uhhhhh, I'll put in my bid now for the J. Jill outfit. I will always love your beautiful "hand-overs." :-) Peace & Love, K
ReplyDeleteSusanne, you are so funny. I figured the picture thing out, are you proud?
ReplyDeleteK, so glad to know my JJills (2 pair of pants) will have a home- they are yours!
Vern, I'm so proud of you and your blog! I'm down with my Indian sistahs and embracing my belly!!! Jai-oh!
